If you think raccoons are just cute little masked bandits, think again!
According to NothAmericaNature.com, “Raccoons will attack if provoked or if they feel threatened. They can bite and scratch humans and can cause fatal injuries to small pets. Raccoons can also cause thousands of dollars of damage to your home.”

They also carry diseases like leptospirosis and rabies and their feces often contains roundworm which can be transmitted to pets and children who spend time in the same yard frequented by raccoons. Here are some signs that you may have a raccoon problem:

Sign #1: The presence of tracks

The most obvious sign of a raccoon infestation are the presence of raccoon tracks. They approximately four inches or less in length and easy to identify if you know what you are looking for.

If you see these raccoon tracks around your home, garage or out buildings; you can be pretty sure the raccoons are not just passing through – they have moved in and need to be dealt with.

Sign #2: Torn Garbage Bags or Overturned Trash Cans

Your garbage is very enticing to a raccoon. Plastic garbage bags left outside or easily accessible garbage cans are easy targets for raccoons and often will be the first thing that attracts a raccoon to your yard, Making sure your garbage and trash is secure and protected from raccoon access is often the best long term raccoon strategy. But, if they are already found your trash it’s a good bet they have decided to stay around for a while.

Sign #3: Raccoon Feces

Although raccoon feces looks similar to the feces of other small mammals, raccoons tend to defecate at the base of trees or along the foundation of buildings.

Sign #4: Scratches on Trees and Buildings

Raccoons often will claw and scratch the base of trees and on the wooden walls of buildings, steps and decks. This is not only damaging, it is also an indicator of where the raccoon may be entering your home, shed, barn or garage.

If you see these signs, it is likely you have a raccoon problem and the raccoons will stay until they are convinced it is no longer a safe to be there.
That’s where PredatorPee® CoyotePee Coyote Urine can help. PredatorPee® CoyotePee is the urine of a raccoon’s most feared predator – the coyote. Because coyotes are now found most everywhere, raccoons are on high alert to any sign that a coyote may be nearby. The scent of a coyote’s urine triggers a raccoon’s genetic fear response. They recognize the danger and are moved to flee the area as fast as possible.

PredatorPee® CoyotePee Coyote Urine allows you to harness the survival instincts of nature and put them to work to protect your home and pets.
