As more and more restaurants opened and expanded outdoor dining areas since the advent of Covid, birds have taken notice.
New BirdLace from Foggy Mountain® is the easy, effective and non-harmful way to deal with this very real impediment to enjoyable outdoor dining.

According to restaurant.org, “In a September 2021 survey fielded by the National Restaurant Association, 65% of restaurant operators said they offered
on-premises outdoor dining in a space such as a patio, deck or sidewalk.
That's up from 57% in April 2021, and roughly on par with the 67% who reported similarly in September 2020.”

But of course, along came the birds. According to Food Safety Magazine:
“The Trouble with Birds - Simply put, birds of all feathers need to be kept out of restaurants for a variety of reasons.
Not only do they transmit diseases, they’re not exactly the cleanest creatures—even if they do use a birdbath from time to time...
Fowl also harbor over 40 types of parasites and host over 60 types of infectious diseases. If that’s not enough to make your stomach turn, there’s more.
If birds nest nearby, they can spread illness and disease via their feces, which can literally drop from anywhere at any time.
Consequently, the effect they can have on a restaurant can be devastating.”

CBS news in San Francisco reports, “Customers have reportedly gotten “dive-bombed” during outdoor dining.
And the birds have left wide swaths of droppings, that have required expensive, ongoing pressure washings, and could be a health hazard.”

Interestingly enough, the solution to this problem is found in the birds themselves. Specifically in their highly developed eyesight.

According to scienceofbirds.com, “You can think of birds as having between 2 and 8 times the visual acuity of humans.
It depends on the bird species you’re talking about….It makes sense that birds would need such amazing eyesight.
As flying creatures, they need to maneuver at high speed through a three-dimensional space that can be filled with obstacles like tree branches.
Many birds need to see and catch small, fast-flying insects or other flying prey. There are so many ways that birds use their awesome eyesight.”

BirdLace outdoor dining barrier is fabricated from an almost transparent monofilament mesh that is virtually transparent to us
but is highly visible to birds. Each BirdLace outdoor dining bird barrier covers 500 square feet and can easily be suspended above the dining area with the cord provided. Use multiples together to cover larger areas.
